Community Chords in the Schools

Community Chords School Outreach brings performances and demonstrations by Symphony musicians and guest artists directly into Richmond, Columbia, and McDuffie County public schools. Symphony musicians form string quartets or wind trios and perform engaging and interactive concerts for CSRA schools, with the goal to perform more concerts each season than the last. In 2018, the Symphony produced 26 school outreach performances, benefiting 2,915 individuals. In 2019, the Symphony had 29 school outreach engagements, benefiting 2,958 students. In 2020, the Symphony has opportunities for up to 35 school engagements, estimated to benefit 3,300 individuals.

Through Community Chords, the Symphony plays a vital role in offering children throughout the CSRA exposure to classical music and access to quality music programs that in many cases would otherwise be inaccessible. This engagement is key to inspiring a lifelong appreciation of the arts and cultivating the musicians and audiences of the future.
