Discovery Concert
The Symphony’s Discovery Concert annually provides over 1,000 elementary, middle, and high school students, including homeschoolers, with opportunities to experience a free live symphonic performance. Past Discovery Concerts include a Cirque de la Symphonie performance, Symphony of Illusions featuring master illusionist Michael Grandinetti, Holst’s The Planets with NASA video and images synced to the music, and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 7 with Westwater Arts “Czech Journeys” visual concert showing pictures of the Czech Republic.
The 2023-24 Discovery Concert will take place on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 10:00 am at the historic Miller Theater. This season’s concert will showcase a unique 3D cinematic and musical celebration of our nation’s national parks and exciting cities. Learners will be immersed in striking imagery on a giant screen while the Augusta Symphony guides them on a journey through America’s most breathtaking land- and cityscapes.
Update for Discovery Concert 2024
In order to reach as many students as possible, the Augusta Symphony and Community Chords staff are re-working and clarifying the process for requesting Discovery Concert tickets. Requests for tickets will re-open later this fall.
What this means for you is:
- if you requested any tickets via the webform between August 17 and August 19, you will need to request tickets again when we re-announce;
- if you have yet to request tickets, you will be able to request tickets when we re-announce;
- if you want to stay in-the-know about the Discovery Concert, join our Community Chords Facebook Group, follow the Augusta Symphony on Instagram or Facebook, and join our mailing list (being sure to mark our emails as NOT spam/junk!)
- Schools and Homeschool Groups can still request a FREE Classroom Concert
