Youth Concerto Competition
Presented by Augusta Symphony and Augusta University’s Department of Music.

The 2019 Youth Concerto Competition is open to students ages 10-18 residing in Georgia or South Carolina who are students of the orchestral instruments including strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and piano.
- Cash prizes: $500 for 1st place, $300 for 2nd place, $200 for 3rd place
- Possibility of two divisions – Junior and Senior. All prizes awarded at the discretion of the judges.
- Opportunity to perform with the Augusta Symphony under the direction of Maestro Dirk Meyer. Final decisions concerning repertoire performed with the orchestra will be subject to Maestro Meyer’s approval.
Applicants must submit a completed Application and $50 non-refundable application fee by Friday, November 30, 2018. The ten best competitors will be selected as finalists to perform in the competition in March. Selected competitors will be notified by Friday, December 14, 2018. Electronic submissions and payment are preferred. Competitors will perform one movement from an orchestral concerto or piece of his/her choice. Selects MUST be memorized and no more than 10 minutes in length. Each applicant must provide their own piano accompanist on the day of the competition.
The winners will be announced at a reception immediately following the competition on Sunday, February 24, 2019.

The winner of the 2018 Concerto Competition, Yannie Tan, will perform the first movement of the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Augusta Symphony in the Musical Pictures concert on Saturday, April 27, 2019.
